Members coming over to the Bahamas this year should double-check for updates concerning the Travellers Currency Declaration Form, which is required upon entry should one be bringing cash totaling $10,000 or more. In 2014, the Bahamian government passed the Travellers Currency Declaration Act; enforcement has not yet been seen, but is expected to begin by the end of 2015.*
RMHYC members are also reminded to check their home bank’s policy on using foreign ATMs for cash withdrawals; some banks stateside do levy an international transaction tariff or a foreign exchange fee, so best to know your own bank’s policy in advance and plan accordingly.
