Over 50 RMHYC members and guests
had a wonderful evening
at Anglers Restaurant celebrating the holiday season before some were
scheduled to return home to friends and family. The party
coordinator was Kathy Conley, M/V Fantasy whose husband, Commodore
John Conley was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Kathy was
assisted by Social Chair John Cummings and his wife Diane aboard M/V
Duetto. Attendees were from both marinas and homes in the Abacos,
the latter, affectionately referred to as “dirt people.”
The evening began with cocktails
and appetizers on the back deck of Anglers at 5:30 pm, where we
renewed old friendships and got to know some of the Club's newest
members. The mood was casual and festive and with the abundance of
cocktails and conversation, one could not help but have fun!
Dinner included a
champagne-vinaigrette salad with fresh breads and a main meal choice
of either lobster tail, lamb chops or vegetarian lasagna, each served
with colorful and delicious sides. The meal was completed with a
mini pumpkin cheese cake presented on an artfully decorated plate
with a hand drawn holiday candle. While this event is traditionally
held at Anglers, many commented that this year's meal was the best in
memory.
Commodore John Conley introduced
new members of the Club and his wife, the event coordinator who did
such an outstanding job. Kathy thanked all of the resort staff who
made this event so successful, especially chefs Frank, Charles, and
Charles “the second;” as well as Andrew Sweeting and Kristi Wong,
whose leadership and coordination ensured a successful evening.
Musical entertainment was
provided by Estin Sawyer who backed up Past Commodore Jim Fenn
as he led us in song. Jim delivered his signature rendition of “I'll
Be Home for Christmas” and got the group singing along to a few
Christmas favorites before several couples made their way to the
dance floor.
At the end of the evening, many
members lingered to say their goodbyes and to wish others joyous
Holidays and a safe return.
While this was the first big event of
the season, there are many more to follow and we are all looking
forward to “The Souper Bowl” in January. Members should review
the web site event calendar and tune in to the 8am morning meetings
on channel 78, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so as not to miss out
on any of the fun.
